Overview

Adapted by Gillian Flynn from her breakthrough novel Gone Girl and directed with deft precision by dark master David Fincher, Gone Girl is a twisty marital mystery thriller that has become something of a modern classic since its release in nearly ten years ago. On the morning of their wedding anniversary, Nick (Ben Affleck) returns to home to find his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) missing with signs of a struggle all throughout their abode. As the days go by, local detectives drill Nick for clues while the media and townspeople start to suspect he might not be as innocent as he's making himself out to be.

Why You Should See This Film

As chilling as Flynn’s novel, conjured slickly into reality by Fincher’s dark magic, harrowed by an all-timer electronic score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Gone Girl is easily one of the greatest psychological thrillers of the 2010s. Affleck is perfectly cast as a man who turns from charming to smug on a dime and Rosamund Pike’s sincere chilliness brings depth to a very difficult character. Also an unexpectedly brilliant supporting cast of Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon and Kim Dickens soar in their very memorable supporting roles. In the near decade since its release, Gone Girl has developed an infamy of sorts for being an either great or terrible date movie, depending on how you look at it. Theres only one way to find out.
