Paramount House is a cultural, architectural and literal cornerstone of the area of Surry Hills once known as the ‘Hollywood Quarter’. Built in 1940 in a Late Deco style, it shows how elegance can be achieved by focusing on what is essential.
Already regarded as a hub for many of Sydney’s creative businesses, the story of Paramount House is only just beginning. Alongside Golden Age Cinema & Bar, a cafe and variety of retailers have opened for business and the space continues to evolve.
Drawing upon its rich history, the former screening room of Paramount Pictures has been carefully renovated by a bewitching collective of architects, interior designers, auteurs and furniture makers. It brings together the past, present and future to create a unique environment for people to watch films, enjoy a drink or host an event.
Today, the cinema presents an outstanding independent film program that brings together classics, cults, creepies, cheapies and the best new releases of the year.
To consistently meet the expectations of our cinema crowd, Golden Age is only available for hire outside of trading hours. In very rare cases we might make an exception, but you’ll have to be at your seductive best. For more details or to enquire please check our Venue Hire page.
