Overview

Wesley Snipes is Blade, the Daywalker, a half-vampire, half-mortal leading a secret war against the vampire scourge while fighting his own thirst for blood. After raiding a vampire-blood-rave, Blade saves Karen (N'Bushe Wright), a hematologist bitten by one of her vampire patients, with the help of his old friend Abraham Whistler (Kris Kristofferson). As Karen researches a cure for vampirism, Blade catches the attention of upstart vampire Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) and his underworld syndicate who plot to wipe the vampire-hunter out and awaken an ancient evil.

Why See This Film

Preceding The Matrix in its leather-clad late-nineties-ness, and being singlehandedly responsible for the entire modern Marvel comic book movie craze, Blade is a swinging, slashing techno-banger, chock-full of martial arts action and urban fantasy horror. Perhaps his most iconic role, Wesley Snipes makes this movie with his kickass karate, dark wraparounds, toothy grins and undead dad jokes. From the iconic blood-rave scene to a brilliant line regarding ice-skating, Blade must be seen loud with a crowd.
