Overview

Adapted from the manga of the same name by Masamune Shirow, Mamoru Oshii’s cyberpunk thriller Ghost in the Shell is widely considered to be one of the greatest anime and science-fiction films of all time. 2029: A female cybernetic government agent, Major Motoko Kusanagi, and the Internal Bureau of Investigations are hot on the trail of "The Puppet Master," a mysterious and threatening computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts. Together with her fellow agents from Section 9, Kusanagi embarks on a high-tech race against time to capture the omnipresent entity.

Why See This Film

A key inspiration on other science fiction films such as The Matrix, A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Avatar, the importance and influence of Ghost of the Shell cannot be overstated. Forget the regrettable 2017 live-action remake and come and bask in the brilliance of this cerebral cyborg classic.
