Osgood Perkins (Blackcoat’s Daughter) has delivered a weirded out serial killer procedural for the new age with the deeply creepy Longlegs. Fledgeling FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe, It Follows) has been assigned an unsolved case of occult-seeming murders, and to her horror discovers she may have something in common with the killer. As the potential for a terrible personal connection grows more clear, Harker allows familial troubles to rise to the surface and inform her decisions, for right and wrong.
“Frightening, wild, and endlessly dark...Longlegs is a film that will crawl under your skin and live there for 100 minutes”
“A work of chilling brilliance that should electrify genre fans for years to come”
“A marvellous piece of supernatural horror wearing the skin of a serial killer thriller that weaves a lasting, sinister spell”
Perkins has harnessed the real (non-meme) powers of Cage as an actor here, creating a new era of performance for a truly individual artist. Maika Monroe more than matches him as the agent trying to come to grips with what he might mean, for the pre-Internet milieu in which they find themselves, a horrifying world that feels like a subliminal double to the banal 90s enclosure they roam in. Short sharp shocks, deep lip-gnawing terror and finger-hiding feelings: it's time to get scared again.
